Every home comes with a hunt.
Something leaks, trips or stops working, and the first ten minutes go to searching. Where's the valve? What brand is that? Who serviced it last? The answers are scattered across the house, old paperwork and the previous owner's memory.
Where's the shutoff?
Most people can't find their main water, gas or power shutoff until they need it, which is the worst time to look.
What model is that?
Repair calls start with "what do you have?" The label is in the attic, behind the unit, or worn off.
What's it due for?
Filters, tests and aging equipment don't announce themselves. Small upkeep gets missed until it turns into a big fix.
Every system, answered three ways.
Mapping is the core of Mapa. Each shutoff and piece of equipment in your home gets the same three answers, so you're never guessing.
Where it is
A pin on your property map, a photo and plain directions to get there.
What it is
Brand, model, size and age, read from the equipment label.
How to use it
Step-by-step instructions for shutting it off, resetting it or keeping it running.
Gas shutoff
- 1 · Where it is
- East side of the house, behind the side gate, on the pipe going into the meter.
- 2 · What it is
- Quarter-turn valve on the meter inlet. A 12-inch wrench is clipped to the riser.
- 3 · How to use it
- Turn the tab a quarter turn so it sits across the pipe. Leave it off and call the gas company to restore service.
Three ways to build your map.
Start however you like. Every step can be skipped and picked up later, and the map fills in as you go.
Do it yourself
A guided walk-through on your phone. Snap a photo, drop a pin, and Mapa fills in the rest.
- Address lookup for home basics
- Photo + pin for each shutoff
- Sketch or upload a floorplan
Upload your inspection report
Already have a home inspection? Turn the PDF into a living map. You confirm what Mapa pulls out.
- Systems and equipment pulled from the report
- Notes become your care list
- Your inspector can send it for you
Book a Mapa Pro
A trained Mapa Pro visits and maps the whole home in one trip, so you don't have to.
- Every shutoff photographed and pinned
- Equipment labels read on site
- House Score and walkthrough at hand-off
A map turns a scramble into a few taps.
Without Mapa
- 1Water's on the floor. Search the yard, garage and closets for a valve.
- 2Call a plumber and try to describe the water heater over the phone.
- 3They show up, find the model and order the part. Second visit.
With Mapa
- 1Tap Shutoffs. Water main, pinned with a photo and steps. Off in a minute.
- 2Share the water heater's page: brand, model, size, age and photos.
- 3Your pro arrives knowing what they're working on.
